How To Work With a Script-Writer
|
|
There are a few things you can do before meeting with a scriptwriter that will make the most of your meeting and help ensure that the writer understands your needs.

|
|
-
The first question I always ask is: "Who is your Audience?" It's important to get on your Audience's wavelength. You don't communicate with Mtv viewers the same way you do with the board of an Engineering or Accounting Firm.
-
Answer the question: What do you want the audience to do? What effect should this communication have on them? Do you want them to buy a product? Save the Whales? Change their behavior? What is your "Call to Action?"
Then think about The Actors Question: "What's their Motivation?"
-
Consider the Venue. Where will the audience be? In their cars? At a Trade Show? At home or work on their computers? In a stadium? Or maybe a combination of these? The venue can help determine the delivery.
IMPORTANT NOTE: A good Script-Writer will ask for whatever material you are currently using to communicate the topic of the script. If you come prepared with printed materials, previous videos or brochures you can shave days off of your timeline - and save on courier expenses.
